Popcorn Survivors... soon?


I had an idea for a popcorn popping simulator as a joke almost a year ago that would have been perfect for game jam if the theme would have aligned. It never did it but the joke stuck. Somehow, I began developing this inside joke into an actual prototype and it has since started becoming a game.

After coming up with what I felt was acceptable as popped popcorn sprites, after a few tries, I came up with that I felt was readable as a skillet. It works in the game editor much better than it does in the image editor.

Obviously the idea of a roguelite popcorn popping simulator is pop the kernels, earn the points, buy the upgrades, make the number go up. Roguelite logic wrapped in a novelty clicker.

So far, here is what it looks like in practice. Click in the upper portion of the screen, kernels spawn, fall, and then get clicked in the skillet to pop.



I'm hoping for a release sometime in the fall.
